The mission of the Virginia Beach SPCA is to help create communities with an increased capacity for compassion and a decreased tolerance for cruelty.  VBSPCA not only operates an open-access facility serving south Hampton Roads and beyond, it is a vital source of education, advocacy and programs devoted to the protection and care of domestic and wildlife animals.  Some are rescued from negligent, even dangerous conditions.  Others are found that have been abandoned.  Our open access policy means that we will accept pets from all regions and we do not euthanize adoptable animals to make space for other or pre-screen animals for the purposes of selecting only those suitable for adoption.  We are able to operate our many programs, which include a medical clinic and full service facility thanks to the generosity of our community and the loving hearts who join us in giving their time and providing much needed resources so that we may accomplish our mission.

About our Budget
VBSPCA has a 90.8 PERCENT organizational efficiency rating in dollars raised that are used for programs.  An additional 3.3 percent is used for Administrative Expenses and 5.7 percent goes to fundraising.  Virginia Beach SPCA relies on the generosity of supporters to help maintain rescue, adoption, shelter and other activities.  Volunteers and donations are welcome.  Please see www.vbspca.org for information about wills and bequests; car donations, corporate sponsorships and matching gifts.
